Welcome to comfort reads! We are almost at Winter Solstice, the shortest day and longest night of the year! If you have a bonfire and warm mug or a blanket and a warm hearth fire that is the place to be right now, that is unless you are S.E Welsh, who hails from our tropical north. And I am sure that is a place many of us would love to be right now!

S.E Welsh is a paranormal and historical romance writer who loves to weave together heroes, history and heart. Welcome S.E Welsh!

S.E Welsh’s Favourite Comfort Read

I can’t sleep unless I read before bed, so the reality is, books in all genres and forms are my comfort reads. However, my go-to read when I’m feeling out-of-sorts is Gail Carriger’s Soulless. I love a good Victorian or Steampunk romance, but this one has the power to pull me out of a serious funk with it’s dry humour. As I live in the tropics, we don’t have to worry about the cold weather, but in the wet season I curl up on the hammock swing on our verandah and listen to the rain roar as I read or write. Surprisingly, it’s really soothing.

The book I come back to again and again because it inspires me is Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel’s Dart. I love Carey’s world building and couldn’t be more in awe of her love scenes. The words wrap me up for hours and, though it is quite a long book, I’ve been known to read through the night to finish it, even though I know how it ends. My husband hates it when I pick it up–he doesn’t get much sleep either when I’m too invested in a book. Says I make too many noises.

Seer by S.E Welsh

About Seer – The TItanomachy Book One

A Seer has surfaced—but she’s blind!

Chloe Santos is an immortal with a whole world of problems. The victim of an attempted murder that left her blind, horribly disfigured, and stuck with powers everyone thought eradicated, it’s safe to say she’s at a low point in her life. But then she’s blackmailed into investigating a kidnapping with links to her past. It could put herself, and everyone she cares about, in danger.

Including her Warrior Soulmate.

Phobos has a millennia of blood on his hands. As the son of Ares, he’s done horrific things in the name of keeping the continued existence of immortals a secret. Only all of that changes when he meets his Soulmate.

Allegiances shift, trust is thin and Chloe has to decide if she should risk everything to make the world a better place. Even if that means sacrificing her own chance at happiness.

You can buy Seer here.
